Nate Appleman Will Helm the Kitchen at Keith McNally's Pulino's
Grub Street brings word that Nate Appleman will be heading the kitchen at Keith McNally's slavishly anticipated Bowery restaurant, Pulino's Bar and Pizzeria. Appleman, who earned a James Beard Rising Star award for his work at San Francisco's A16, made news last month when he decamped to New York: at the time, he told Fork in the Road that "I'm taking meetings and exploring options, and have to say that it looks likely I'm headed this way for sure." Pulino's, in the vein of other McNally restaurants, will reportedly offer food from breakfast to the wee hours, and is scheduled to open in December. In the meantime, Appleman appears to be taking a bit of a breather: his last Twitter post, from August 17, reads, "I am going, going, back, back to Cali, Cali......."
