Neighbors Don't Want Another Pulino's, but do Want a "Quieter" McNally Restaurant

In the latest installment of the Keith McNally-Village Paper saga, Community Board 2 used its monthly meeting last week to deny McNally's application for a Pulino's Café on the corner of Greenwich Avenue and West 10th Street.

But, as The Villager reports, the neighbors will be more willing to support an application for a spin-off of one of the restaurateur's "quieter properties." Which begs the question: which of McNally's properties are they referring to? Because all of them -- Balthazar, Pravda, Pastis, Minetta Tavern, and Morandi -- weren't exactly quiet when they opened, and at least three of them continue to attract more or less constant and voluble crowds. But maybe it's the glaring neon and police barricaded-sidewalk dining the neighbors object to; whatever the case, they'll undoubtedly make their feelings heard on October 13, when McNally reappears before CB2's SLA committee.
