New Amsterdam Market Gets a Pop-Up Soda Fountain
Remember when the perfect Valentine's Day date was taking your sweetheart to the soda fountain for a nice coke float? Neither do we. But you can re-create the experience at the pop-up soda fountain at New Amsterdam Market this weekend.
People from P&H Soda Co., a Brooklyn vendor of handcrafted syrups, and the Bent Spoon, a New Jersey ice-cream parlor, will be manning the soda fountain, serving ice-cream floats, egg creams, egg shakes, and hand-mixed sodas.
Soda-fountain enthusiasts can stop by a talk given by Gregory Cohen, who was deemed the country's leading expert on soda fountains by The New York Times. At 6:30 p.m., he'll discuss the history of the American soda fountain and his experience reviving drinks from the 1930s for his bar, Lofty Pursuits, located in Tallahassee, Florida. Sounds like a swell time!
The fountain will be open on Saturday and Sunday, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., and entry requires a reservation. To reserve, send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org today.
