New First Street Juice Bar Is Called the Juice Press; Will Be an Orthorexic's Paradise
A one-stop weight loss shop?
Here's some more information about the juice bar on 1st Street between First and Second Avenues that's supposedly opening on May 15.
According to the signs that are now stenciled into the windows, it's called the Juice Press and will apparently act as a sort of one-stop weight loss center. The windows advertise "weight control and juice cleansing," "organic soups and raw salads," "sandwiches and healthy snacks," and "cold-pressed juices and gourmet smoothies."
An orthorexic's paradise? A vegan raw-foodist's oasis? An Arcadia for those who have forsworn foods that require chewing? Or, with its unsettling allusion to "control," an attempt to bring shame to those of us happy to scarf down our meat pies from the Tuck Shop and Superheebs from Russ & Daughters?
Only time will tell. But whatever the outcome, we're guessing that the folks two doors down at Juicy Lucy won't be too impressed. Have a tip or restaurant-related news? Send it to firstname.lastname@example.org.
