Nicky's Still May be Moving, But Only a Couple Blocks Away
Nicky's: banh mi, Simpsons.

A couple of weeks after reporting that East Village banh mi stalwart Nicky's would possibly be leaving its East 2nd Street home, EV Grieve has an update. Per a reader who spoke with a member of the Dang family, which owns the shop, "They will not be closing until the next 2 - 3 months ... it is up to the landlord. He says that they are going to be moving just a block or 2 away from the current EV location and will have more space, less rent and still play 'The Simpsons.'"
A spike in rent will also force Graceland, the deli that occupies the same building, to close, which leaves only Gracefully, a much more expensive "gourmet" deli up the block, to service that part of the neighborhood. But at least the banh mi and The Simpsons aren't going far.
