Number of Sick Fat Ducks Growing
After Heston Blumenthal closed The Fat Duck, one of the world's top restaurants, on February 24th, it was initially reported that around 40 customer had fallen mysteriously ill. Now as news of the outbreak has spread, the Thames Valley Health Protection says some 400 people have contacted it saying they felt sick following eating at the restaurant in late January and February.
The restaurant remains closed with Blumenthal losing an estimated $140,000 per week. Thus far tests on the premises and workers have come back negative, and the cause of the outbreak remains a mystery. Blumenthal said early last week that he hoped to reopen the restaurant this past Wednesday, but it remains closed as the investigation continues.
