Until then, you can get a taste of our contenders as we count down, in no particular order, our 100 favorite dishes from around the boroughs, a list of laudable eats worth tracking down right now.

No. 80: Adjaruli Khatchapuri from Oda House

Georgian food is rare on the island of Manhattan, which was reason enough for us to make Oda House a destination at least once. And while a number of dishes--including the massive broth-filled dumplings--are intriguing enough to warrant a second visit, it's the adjaruli khatchapuri that will keep us coming back on a more regular basis. A football-shaped loaf of bread is hollowed out and then filled with a mix of tart feta and sweet mozzarella, which bubbles and browns as it bakes. The kitchen cracks an egg over the mixture just before serving, and vigorous stirring slowly scrambles it into the molten cheese. The result is a thick, rich dip that's best scooped up by the crisp edges of loaf itself; the last bites of the cheese-soaked bread bowl are particularly glorious, assuming you can finish the dish.
