On August 1, Raise a Glass to Ray Deter
When d.b.a. owner Ray Deter died earlier this month from injuries he sustained in a bike accident, he left behind a wife, two sons, and countless friends. Next Monday, some of them are holding a benefit in his memory.
To mark the end of July Good Beer Month, members of the Good Beer Seal community will hold "A Toast to Ray" at d.b.a. Brooklyn in Williamsburg. As you would expect, it will feature a veritable river of good beer from local breweries including Kelso, Saison Dupont, Sixpoint, and Brooklyn Brewery, as well as an array of whiskeys, bourbons, and assorted rare spirits.
Boblink Farm, which is one of the event's sponsors, will provide raw oysters, cheese, bread, and an entire pig. And if that isn't enough, Fette Sau, Tchoup Shop, Heritage Foods USA, and Jimmy's No. 43 will also do their part to promote caloric excess.
Tickets for the event are available through the Good Beer Seal website. There are a number of ticket options; proceeds from all of them will go to the Ray Deter Memorial Fund, which will benefit Deter's family.
