Otarian Will Open on April 19
Back in February, we noted the curious rise of so-called fast-casual vegetarian and vegan restaurants. Among the growing number was Otarian, an Australian chain planning to open an outlet on Bleecker Street. Billing itself as "the planet's first low carbon restaurant," Otarian, per its press materials, claims it will be "the first global chain to carbon footprint all of its menu items according to international standards." How it plans to do this, and what sized shoe texturized vegetable protein wears remain to be seen, as does whether or not the restaurant will qualify as a Vegetarian Delight of NYC. But it looks like you'll be able to find out either way in a few weeks' time: opening day is scheduled for April 19.
