Big Apple Barbecue Block Party, Madison Square Park, Fifth Avenue at 23 Street, Saturday and Sunday, 11 a.m.

A selection of the country's top pitmasters including New York's own John Stage of Dinosaur Bar-B-Que are converging on Madison Square Park to fill the air with the smell of smoked meats throughout the weekend. Ribs, pulled pork, and Texas brisket are a few of the starring plates you'll find alongside sides liked spicy pickles and coleslaw. Additional local barbecue joints include Hometown BBQ and Blue Smoke. A full line up of participating pitmasters and activities — including a beer garden and live music — can be viewed on the festival web site.

10th Annual Jazz Age Lawn Party, Governors Island, Saturday and Sunday, 11 a.m.

Forget the shorts and break out the summer suits at this annual summer throwback party, which features 20's era cocktails by Clover Club's Julie Reiner and a pie contest among the premiere food focused activities. Additional entertainment includes a Charleston dance contest and a magic show. New this year is a gourmet food market which includes Luke's Lobster among other specialty food trucks, with beer and sparkling wine also available for purchase. The Better Booze Festival, Webster Hall, 125 East 11 Street, Saturday, 12 p.m.

Sample under the radar spirits and craft beers for $29 at this three and a half hour all you can drink affair. The festival includes over fifty different distillers and brewers as well as food, fire dancing, and aerialist performances. The Art of Pho, Court Tree Collective, 371 Court Street - 2nd Floor, Brooklyn, Saturday, 5 p.m.

If you're looking to score an affordable dinner, consider a bowl of pho and other east Asian specialties at this Vietnamese inspired pop up. In addition to slurping soup as part of a tasting menu, guests can enjoy a crispy rice cake, summer rolls, and coconut cream pudding. Tickets are $30 and can be purchased here.

Summer Sundays 'till Sundown, Porchlight, 271 Eleventh Avenue, Sunday, 12 p.m.

A Louisiana style crawfish boil kicks off this weekly summer series, where guests can enjoy special cocktails and tall boy brews after working up an appetite on the nearby High Line. For $25, guests receive an individual portion of traditional crawfish boil sides like andouille sausage and potatoes, with additional specials planned for future Sundays. The bar will also offer its southern inspired menu of pimento cheese sandwiches and bison burgers upon request. The weekly series runs through Labor Day Weekend.
