Raise a Glass - and Some Money - for Lydia Tillman, Casa Mono's Beloved Former Sommelier
Lydia Tillman is a well-loved member of the wine world who is known in part for the stellar work she did as Casa Mono's sommelier and wine buyer. Earlier this summer, Tillman moved to Colorado to take a new job working for a wine distributor.
On July 4, she was brutally assaulted in her home by a man who then set her house on fire, forcing Tillman to leap from a second-story window to save herself. She has spent the past month in the ICU, without health insurance or any of her belongings, which were lost in the fire.
This Saturday, August 20, Chamber Street Wines is hosting a fundraising benefit for Tillman at Terroir Tribeca. From noon until 3 p.m., they will pour a variety of Spanish wines, including sherry, Rioja, and a range of older vintages, in her honor. The minimum donation is $20. If you can't attend but want to help out, you can also make a donation through the Friends of Lydia Facebook page; all funds will go toward helping Tillman rebuild her life.
