Ray's Candy Store Shuttered by the DOH
It was only last month that things seemed to finally be looking up for Ray's Candy Store, thanks to the power of social networking. But now the 37-year-old store is once again in the news for the wrong reasons: It has been shuttered by the DOH. EV Grieve reports that the department's dreaded yellow badge of shame is now posted on Ray's Avenue A storefront. During its last inspection, on November 10, Ray's earned a "B" for "inadequate" "personal cleanliness," the absence of an "effective hair restraint," and no food-protection certificate.
