Real Irish Cooking and Whiskey Wars Tour on This Weekend's Agenda
Learn all about NYC's Whiskey Wars this Weekend and enjoy a tasting, too
St. Paddy's Day weekend is upon us, which means you have an excuse, if you want, to don green and drink Guinness until you're kicked out of a bar. Not your bag? Check out this list of things to do instead.
Bed-Stuy Fresh and Local's March Tasting Party, 210 Patchen Avenue, Brooklyn, Friday, 5:30 p.m.
Free sample fiend? This market will be offering up complimentary tastes from a number of local vendors as a way to welcome in the weekend. Look for snacks from Chutney Fix, Brooklyn Delhi, and Blue Marble Ice Cream, which will dole out scoops.
Real Irish Cooking, Bowery Culinary Center, Whole Foods, 95 East Houston Street, Saturday, 2 p.m.
If you'd like to celebrate St. Patrick's Day with more than just that aforementioned Guinness, this class will cover a selection of iconic Irish dishes, including an Irishman's omelette, beef and Guinness stew, and traditional Irish sweet cake. Tickets are $45.
Paella Brunch, Pulperia on Essex, 131 Essex Street, Sunday, noon
Eat as much seafood paella as you can handle over the course of this two-hour all-you-can-eat brunch, and then wash it down with unlimited sangria and wine. Settle into your meal under an in-house DJ, and stick around later for a live book reading.
Factory Tours: Whiskey Wars, BLDG-92, Brooklyn Navy Yard, 63 Flushing Avenue, Brooklyn, Sunday, 3:45 p.m.
If you get a thrill from distilling, join this tour and learn about the history of illegal moonshine-making in the Brooklyn Navy Yard. Check out Kings County Distillery's current operation, and then stick around for a tasting. Tickets are $15.
