Robert Sietsema at New World Mall Food Court
This week in the Voice, Robert Sietsema samples the goods at the New World Mall Food Court in Flushing: "After being disappointed by the Sichuan fare, we quickly switched to other Chinese regions and found ourselves more satisfied."
Sam Sifton awards two stars to Boulud Sud: "To the list of terrific Daniel Boulud restaurants in Manhattan, add this Lyonnaise chef's first significant gesture toward the sea that laps at the South of France and Spain to its west, then stretches across to Africa and east to the Levant." [NY Times]
Jay Cheshes approves of Salinas: "The best stuff on the menu captures the boisterous spirit of authentic tapas-style dining. The small plates here are boldly flavored and actually portioned to share." [TONY]
Gael Greene finds hits and misses at Nick & Tony's Café: "I'll be back for the Amish chicken just out of the oven with roasted Yukon Golds -- even the breast is blissfully juicy, though I'd trade big, scarcely chewable chunks of house-cured pancetta for smaller cubes to maximize the piggy accent and save on chewing." [Insatiable Critic]
Tables for Two can't quite vouch for the Castello Plan, despite its decent wine list: "Cozy informality does not lend itself well to live music, which is featured twice weekly and can be deafening, and the food tends to suffer from the lack of order." [New Yorker]
