Salud's Roasted Fava Beans Are a Paragon of Vegan Snack Food

Salud's Roasted Fava Beans Are a Paragon of Vegan Snack Food
Rebecca Marx

To the canon of healthy foods that masquerade convincingly as snack foods, we can now add these roasted fava beans from Salud, an organic Latin juice bar in Midwood.

Like kale chips, the favas are vegan, crunchy, and somewhat addictive. Advertised as "chipotle roasted habas," they're duly spicy, but in a restrained way. Because of their high protein content, it doesn't take much to satisfy a craving -- which, as we discovered, will not necessarily prevent further consumption.

Salud sells the beans from its Avenue H location, and also at Smorgasburg, which is where we came across them.
