Sam Freund Out at One if By Land; Tom Colicchio Pissed at College Paper Review

West Village mainstay One if by Land, Two if by Sea, has a new chef, its third in two years. Sam Freund, who took over from Craig Hopson a year and a half ago, has left the restaurant for a job in Denver. Andrew Matthews, who has been at OIBL for more than a year, is now at the helm. [Eater]

Michael White of Alto, Convivio, and Marea has been named one of New York's top "40 Under 40," alongside Food Network Magazine's Maile Carpenter and Katie Grieco of Craft, who also happens to be Paul Grieco of Hearth's wife. [Crain's]

Meanwhile, Marco Canora of Hearth appeared on this week's Platelist, where he discussed his partnership with Grieco and how he got into food in the first place. [ABC News]

Jason Atherton, who opened Maze outposts in New York, Cape Town, and Melbourne, is leaving the Gordon Ramsay group after falling out with Ramsay to start his own place. [Bloomberg]

Tom Colicchio was none too pleased with The Columbia Spectator's unfavorable review of Colicchio & Sons, or Gael Greene's and Grub Street's mentions of it. [Grub Street]
