A few months back we alerted you to Scali Caffé, the "tavola calda," or spot offering a variety of prepared foods and snacks, an offshoot of Upper East Side Italian restaurant Scalinatella (201 East 61st Street, 212-207-8280). Well, they've opened for business at 245 Bleecker Street (212-255-5353), selling an array of panini, fried foods, veggie sides, salumi, pasta, and salad.

The interior is bright and modern, with ample counter seating as well as several tables up front and an open storefront so diners can enjoy the dolce vita (or something like that) of Bleecker Street.

A bounty of prepared foods awaits customers, offering all sorts of Italian delicacies. See the full menu here. Even gelato and biscotti -- and how timely, seeing as how next-door Rocco's is now kaput.
