Scenes From the Pop-Up Madison Square Market

A spitted lamb next to the Ilili Restaurant booth provides an almost medieval scene for passing motorists.

Running from September 25 to October 23, 11 am till 8 pm daily, the Madison Square Market occupies a triangular island at the confluence of Broadway and Fifth Avenue, just north of the Flatiron Building.

The market features several food vendors that will be familiar to readers of Fork in the Road, including Roberta's, Fatty Crab, Ilili Restaurant, Sigmund Pretzels, Pies 'N' Thighs, and Wafels and Dinges. The Madison Square area has become one of the city's premier food destinations, with the recent ascendance of 11 Madison Park, Eataly, Shake Shack, and Hill Country Chicken, and the pop-up market has only swelled the crowds. Here are some pictures taken on a sunny Saturday afternoon.
