Someone Made an Avant-Garde Film About Mars Bar and It Premieres This Week
After watching a brief clip of My Mars Bar Movie, it quickly becomes clear that sitting through the entire 87 minutes may make you uncomfortable. But then, since when has avant-garde cinema not been hard to watch? Filmmaker Jonas Mekas, 88, calls it his "love letter" to the East Village dive bar. Once you adjust to the shaky camera and lilting voiceover, you begin to see just how romantic a film it could be.
My Mars Bar Movie will be screened at the Greenpoint Film Festival this Thursday.
