Sons of Essex Brings on Chef Roger Llanes
We get word that Sons of Essex has named a successor for Seth Levine, the chef who left the spot back in April over creative differences with owner Matt Levine. Stepping in to fill the culinary void is Roger Llanes, a New Jersey native who did time behind the burners as an extern at Eleven Madison Park.
According to the restaurant's reps, Llanes will keep the feel of the restaurant's culinary vibe while updating the menu of his new home with small, shareable bites, like white corn and fava bean succotash and nacatamales, Nicaraguan-style tamales filled with potato purée, which are based on a recipe from his grandmother.
