Starting Today, Aquavit Will Let You Eat Your Weight in Herring
The restaurant kicks off its two-week Herring Festival today with -- what else? -- a herring smorgasbord.The festival coincides with Midsommer, a Swedish holiday celebrating the longest day of the year and an unparalleled occasion for herring consumption.
At Aquavit, the fish will be presented in numerous guises and served alongside various staples of Scandanavian cuisine in the Bistro, and the smorgasbord will be available for $28 during lunch and $38 during dinner. Note that the festival takes place only during the weekdays; presumably the weekends are given over to de-brining the kitchen.
