Stephen Starr to Bring Vietnamese Restaurant to Unnamed New York Hotel
Stephen Starr, who brought us Asian megaplex dining with Buddakan and Morimoto, is now planning to open a Vietnamese restaurant at an as-yet unnamed New York hotel. On Friday, the Philadelphia restaurateur (and sinister presence on last week's Top Chef finale) tweeted, "Plans for a new Starr space in NYC are in motion. Creating a Vietnamese menu and looking for chefs."
Starr, who has 13 Philly restaurants to his name, first touched down in Manhattan in 2006, when he opened Buddakan and Morimoto in the Meatpacking District. He told the Philly Inquirer that his lease is not yet signed, but once it is, Starr's restaurant is certain to touch down with the subtlety of an asteroid touching down in a kiddie pool.
