Strange Snacks of the World--Irving Mill's Pork Rind-Rice Krispie Treats
Have you ever sat down with a Rice Krispie treat and thought, "What this really needs is pork rind?" No, it takes a diabolically genius mind to think of something like that. The treats are fluffy and bouncy--more marshmallow than Rice Krispie--and topped with delicate shavings that look a little like bonito flakes, but which are actually pork rinds, lending a rich jolt of salt. Plus, the caramel dipping sauce has the right amount of salt, so the whole shebang is smack in the sweet-salty sweet spot.
