Traffic. Crowded beaches. Blackened hot dogs. If your Memorial Day traditions consist of any of these, perhaps it's time to give this one a rest. Here are this weekend's five best excuses to stick around town.

Seaport Smorgasburg, South Street Seaport, 19 Fulton Street, Friday through Sunday, 11:30 a.m. Friday/10:30 a.m. Saturday and Sunday

Smorgasburg takes a ferry ride over from Brooklyn starting Friday, as the food festival begins its summer residency in Manhattan this weekend. This year's lineup showcases eight vendors, including Red Hook Lobster Pound, Ramen Burger, and Schnitz; there's also a bar and rotating guests including Brooklyn Oyster Party and People's Pops. Additionally, Friday and Saturday night will feature a silent disco beginning at 8 p.m. The pop-up festival will also be open Monday through Thursday during the summer.

Beer Garden Opening, Tavern on the Green, Central Park at West 67th Street, Friday through Sunday, 12 p.m.

Making its debut this weekend, Tavern on the Green's beer garden is offering those who can't get away a good reason to check out its green space. The bar is offering brews like Spaten and Hoegaarden by the pint and pitcher to enjoy at communal tables, while the menu includes potato pancakes, bratwurst, and chicken schnitzel on a pretzel bun.

Umami and Brooklyn Greenery's Spring Into the Neighborhood, The Brooklyn Greenery, 560 Flatbush Avenue, Brooklyn, Saturday, 8:30 p.m.

Chef Bryan Lindsay is preparing a six-course tasting paired with fresh pressed juices for those of us whose beach bodies aren't quite yet ready. Select courses include roasted vegetable terrine, soba noodle salad, and lamb shoulder; an açai bowl with fresh fruit and almond milk serves as a healthy dessert option. Tickets are $45.99 and can be reserved here.

New Brunch, Mexicue, 225 Fifth Avenue, Saturday and Sunday, 11 a.m.

The latest outpost of this Mexican-barbecue hybrid is introducing its new brunch this weekend. Breakfast tacos, cornbread french toast, and pulled pork with grits are a few of the south-of-the-border-inspired specialties coming out of the kitchen. There's also spicy bloody marias, smoky margaritas, and plenty of tequila available at the bar.

37th Annual Santacruzan Festival, Manila Avenue between 1st and 6th streets, Jersey City, New Jersey, Sunday, 10 a.m.

"The Queen of All Feasts" returns to Jersey City this Sunday, with plenty of Filipino delicacies like barbecued pork and pineapple ready to fill up revelers. Family-friendly activities include pony rides, games, and arts and crafts. There's also a 5k to kick off the festivities for those who like to work up an appetite. A full schedule of events can be seen on the Santacruzan festival website.
