Tavern on the Green Will Remain in the Dark
Looks like the second coming of Tavern on the Green won't be coming anytime soon: according to the Post's Steve Cuozzo, a meeting last week between Dean Poll, Tavern's new operator, and Peter Ward, chief of Local 6 union, was not a fruitful one. Poll and Ward have been unable to reach an agreement concerning a labor contract covering the restaurant's 400 workers, and last week's meeting at Gracie Mansion apparently hasn't gotten them any closer to a deal. If this is any indication of future progress, the city may wish that the restaurant was still Jennifer LeRoy's problem.
