The 5 Burro Cafe Is Branching Out to Red Hook
5 Burro Cafe has been a Forest Hills institution for 20 years. It's been enough of a success that its owners are planning to open a second location in Red Hook -- or, in local real estate parlance, the Columbia Waterfront District.
Grub Street reports that the 5 Burro's owners, Marla and Jorge Cornejo, are shooting for an April opening for their second location in the old Pit Stop space at 127 Columbia Street. It will closely resemble the original 5 Burro, albeit with outdoor seating, backyard petanque, and a more authentic menu tailored to what Jorge Cornejo called Brooklyn's "more savvy customer."
