Bacon, bacon, bacon! Just when you thought we'd reached a porky apogee comes Bacōn -- a perfume that smells like the breakfast food. Really? At first we believed this to be a hoax, but we called up founder John Leydon and are now pretty convinced this is the real deal. (Though why people would want to smell like bacon remains a mystery.)

"Yes, it's entirely a real product. Business has been brisk," said founder John Leydon. How brisk? "Brisk means that I woke up to 150 orders."

Leydon explains that he was inspired to create the perfume for nostalgic reasons. "I'm the youngest of eight kids and I have extremely vivid memories of my mother cooking bacon. If you didn't get down quick, you didn't get any. I have an emotional connection to the scent. And I found that a lot of other people felt that way," he said. Or he's found a lot of gullible people, ourselves included.

He added that the scent was created by a career perfumer and "has all the greatest ingredients, and no animals were used." According to its website, Bacōn Classic is carefully crafted with bergamot, orange, lime, grapefruit, black pepper, cedar wood, vetiver and guaiac wood, a dash of savory, two pinches of salty goodness and a secret formula. Bacōn Gold is carefully crafted with mandarin, bergamot, grapefruit, lemon, nutmeg, pimento berry, and black pepper, with a touch of sweet, a smidgen of savory, a pinch of salty goodness, and the secret formula.

Hey, and if you're not ready to shell out $35 for Bacōn, maybe you can just wear a bacon bra and smell like fatty pork that way.
