The Chocolate Room's Black Chocolate Stout Float, One of Our 100 Favorite Dishes
Dish no. 64: The Black Chocolate Stout Float at The Chocolate Room (269 Court Street, Cobble Hill, 718-246-2600)
There's at least one dessert in the Cobble Hill neighborhood you're legally prohibited from finishing at home, and it's been on The Chocolate Room's menu since that time you walked out of Cobble Hill Cinemas six years ago inexplicably craving a brownie sundae after Pineapple Express. A massive scoop of housemade Madagascar vanilla bean ice cream once sunk beneath the light tan of Brooklyn Brewery's Black Chocolate Stout; now the cafe's serving Samuel Smith's Organic Chocolate Stout and selling out the 18-ounce bottles faster than tickets to the 8:30 showing of Planet of the Apes.
In advance of our 2014 Best of NYC issue, we're traipsing through the boroughs and divulging our favorite dishes of the year. They're presented here as a countdown, but we're listing them in no particular order. Consider this a guide to what's good to eat in this town right this very second.
