The Food Lineup at Governors Ball 2013
Governors Ball 2012
Village Voice/ Loren Wohl
One of the best things about summer is music festivals. One of the best things about music festivals is the massive pit dedicated to food, usually of the artisinal kind. Governors Ball, a three-year-old music festival not to be confused with Wolfgang Puck's menu for the party of the same name, will return to Randall's Island in June 2013 with a lineup featuring Kanye West, Kings of Leon, Kendrick Lamar, the XX, Pretty Lights, Animal Collective, and a whole slew of other acts. But also on the bill is a list of food trucks and restaurants to rival that of warm months favorite Smorgasburg.
Last year, festival-goers enjoyed ice cream sammies from Coolhaus and brisket tacos from Hill Country, among other tasty treats. This year the list expanded to feature spots from all over the city including teriyaki balls from Mimi & Coco and shaved ice from Woolys. The food lineup is almost as diverse as the musical guests.
