The Lower East Side Gets a Little Beer-Happier
Just what the LES needs: more beer
Top Hops (94 Orchard Street), a craft-beer shop-slash-tasting room is gearing up to announce itself to the Lower East Side. A few more details on the concept have emerged: It will specialize in American craft and select imports and offer growlers. If you're not a Lower East Sider, you can still be a customer: Top Hops plans to offer online shopping. It will also host beer classes, tastings, and guest brewers.
It's not the only beery news in the neighborhood.
Culturefix recently added draft beer taps to its small bar-slash-gallery space. It will offer a rotating selection of craft beer, like Sixpoint Brownstone, Whale's Tale Pale Ale, and Southern Tier's 5 Boroughs Belgian-style pale ale. The bar has just kicked off its Sunday Classics series, which features weekly chamber-music ensembles and $4 drafts.
