The Most Appealing Rooftop Bar in the City
It's certainly not the rooftop bar with the most expertly mixed cocktails, or the one with the best design or the most hipsters, but Me Bar on the top of the La Quinta Inn in Koreatown, has an appealing sort of kitsch--picnic tables, white picket fence, wood slatted floor. You feel like you're out on someone's deck. The bar area is so small that it almost feels like someone's home bar, and the drinks are basic stuff, some of it served in plastic cups. Yesterday was not such a good day to spend time outdoors, but even so, the sight of the Empire State Building looming above, spooky in the mist, gave me a little Gotham thrill.
