The Radish Spirit has a MySpace Page
Hayao Miyazaki's Spirited Away was on TV last night; watching it reminded me of what a great food movie it is. Chihiro, a ten year old girl, and her parents accidentally wander into a spirit world ruled by a witch; Chihiro's parents gorge themselves on piles of enchanted food that turn them into pigs, forcing the little girl to stay in the spirit world and try to save her parents.
My favorite part is Chihiro's encounter with the Radish Spirit, a giant, taciturn daikon monster. Seriously, amazing.
And! Upon Googling the Radish Spirit, I discover that he has entered the 21st Century, with a MySpace page , in which he says that he's interested in meeting "Bears, Cubs, Chubs, more Radish Spirits, Chasers, Japs, Farmers, booking agents..."
