There is Now a 75-Cent Slice of Pizza
Last year, Our Man Sietsema glimpsed the future in dollar slices of pizza. "To the culinary world, it's the equivalent of a discount airline -- no frills, but good solid value," he wrote. "Certainly, good cheap pizza is a boon to cash-strapped consumers."
It seems the folks at the Ray's on Broadway between 54th and 55th streets agree: As Midtown Lunch has noticed, the shop is now selling a previously unheard-of 75-cent slice. It's part of a larger (and temporary) 99-cent menu. It's also most likely a reaction to the recent opening of 99 Fresh Pizza nearby -- but given Robert's finding that 99's slice "sucked big time," perhaps Ray's shouldn't be too worried.
