This Week in Chains: Panera Bread Is Coming to Brooklyn
Chains just love them some downtown Brooklyn: Not only is the neighborhood getting a Shake Shack, it's also the future home of the borough's first outpost of Panera Bread.
Crain's reports that the St. Louis-based chain, whose 1,400 locations include ones in Staten Island and Queens, will be colonizing a 2,200-square-foot space on Adams Street. It is expected to open sometime in the spring. Some locals may bemoan the arrival of yet another chain -- even one known as a slightly better highway-rest-stop option -- but it could be worse: While it's no In-N-Out Burger, at least it's not another Subway.
