Celebrity Bartending Fundraising Event for Stockings with Care, Hudson Station Bar & Grill, 440 9th Avenue, Monday, 7 p.m.
Grab a drink (and tip somebody you've seen on television) at the Stockings with Care fundraiser. All proceeds go toward providing holiday gifts for families in need. Celebrities scheduled to make an appearance include chef Rocco DiSpirito, Drew Lachey, and cast members from Law & Order: SVU, Brooklyn Nine Nine, and Inside Amy Schumer. Tickets start at $30 in advance and can be purchased on the Stockings with Care website.
Gingerbread Lane, New York Hall of Science, 47- 01 111th Street, Queens, Monday through January 9
Stroll through gingerbread streetscapes and watch out for frosting on your sleeves at this annual display of edible artistry courtesy of chef Jon Lovitch. This year's version covers 500 square feet and has more than 1,050 houses and structures such as a double-decker carousel and the S.C. Kringle & Co. department store. New this year is a Pumpkin Spice Latte Coffee Shoppe and a 10-square-foot candy factory. Select gingerbread workshops are planned throughout the holidays, but admission to the village is free with a museum ticket, which start at $12 for children, reserved here.
St. Hubert's Feast, Le Philosophe, 55 Bond Street, Monday through Saturday
In honor of St. Hubert, the patron saint of hunters, Le Philosphe is offering five days of wild game specials such as pheasant, venison, and hare. The chef is also preparing a traditional Lievre a la Royale which features foie gras and black truffle-stuffed hare served with chestnut mousse. Dishes range from a $16 foraged salad with duck egg to an $89 venison for two and are served a la carte throughout the five day feast.
Hop aboard a cruise filled with spirits, wines, and a buffet diner hosted by the Village Voice. Over 25 spirit brands will be aboard to share good times, with wine from Brooklyn Winery among the local offerings. Guests will cruise around Manhattan and the New York harbor before returning to Pier 40 to finish off the evening. The ship is scheduled to depart for the evening voyage at 7:30 p.m., and all guests must be on board at this time. Tickets start at $55; reserve here.
If you need another reason to eat cheese, Mimi Sheraton, author of 1,000 Foods to Eat Before You Die, will be on hand to talk about some of her favorite bucket list foods involving cheddar. All attendees will receive an autographed copy of the book from Sheraton herself in addition to assorted cheese samples; reserve your $60 ticket here.
