Waku Waku Japanese Cultural Festival, Brooklyn Expo Center, 79 Franklin Street, Brooklyn, Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.

If the idea of dressing up in anime costumes sounds exhausting, take comfort in the fact there's a room full of Japanese food waiting to be eaten. This new Japanese pop culture festival celebrates food, among other genres, with dishes from ramen joint Ippudo and Katsu-Hama, with all food stands joining together to form "Savory Square" which is free and open to the public. To cool down, guests can enjoy drinks from MatchaBar before taking in a screening of Dragon Ball Z or another anime feature.

New Brunch, Wallflower, 235 W 12th Street, Saturday and Sunday, 11 a.m to 3 p.m.

Kicking off a newly launched weekend brunch, this 40-seat West Village hideaway is offering a selection of global fare favorites to help kick away your weekend hangover. Scrambled eggs with homemade biscuits and gravy sausage, a roasted half lobster, and a bacon quesadilla are a few of the sinful pleasures you'll be able to enjoy at a table (the restaurant offers indoor and outdoor seating). To drink, the bar is offering a selection of French press coffee as well as brunch cocktails.

Dassara Third Anniversary Party, Dassara, 271 Smith Street, Brooklyn, Saturday, 1 to 6 p.m.

Celebrate Dassara's third year serving ramen, with a Brooklyn birthday party. There'll be plates of pork, $3 PBR's, and crabs. Dassara's birthday bash also includes $5 drafts, side dishes, and tea; secure a ticket in advance here.

Maryland Crab Feast, Rockaway Brewing Company, 56-01 5th Street, Queens, Saturday, 8 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Celebrate the close of August and seasonal dishes with Maryland blue crabs, corn, and pints of beer. Rockaway Brewing Co. is offering up its pale ale and farmhouse saison to accompany a dozen crabs, with guests receiving a take home pint glass to keep the memories alive. Tickets are $55 for the late seating and can be secured here.

Celebrando Frutas, Fonda, 40 Avenue B, Saturday and Sunday

Available at all Fonda locations via an a la carte menu, Roberto Santibañez is paying homage to fruit with a seven-course dinner. Guests can enjoy chilled avocado soup, ceviche with passion fruit, and salmon with peach habanero relish among other combinations; there's also cocktails such as a passion fruit paloma. Dinner is $75 per person and is available through September 13.
