Before you break out the suitcases and hightail it to your drunk uncle's for Thanksgiving, take it easy this weekend and enjoy these five food events.

Danish Christmas Festival, Danish Seamen's Church, 102 Willow Street, Brooklyn, Saturday and Sunday, 11 a.m

Kick back some cold complimentary Carlsbergs and sip on warm gløgg at this holiday fair, which will also offer complimentary Danish food like pølser (Danish hot dogs). Christmas crafts, candy, and, of course, the holiday spirit will all be part of the festivities on both days.

Momo Crawl 2014, Jackson Heights Food Court, 73-07 37th Road, Queens, Saturday, 2 p.m.

If you've been meaning to explore the diverse cuisines of Jackson Heights, this weekend's momo crawl should be a fun introduction to Tibetan and Nepalese food. Explorers who purchase the official momo crawl map -- three bills of any denomination scores you one -- can nab the snacks for a dollar each from up to 20 vendors. The neighborhood also includes specials at select spots such as Gang Jong Kitchen, where you can win a dinner for two if you can successfully whistle after eating a momo coated in a special sauce. And then there's a make-your-own-momo event at Little Tibet, plus drink specials. Once complete, participants will meet back at the Jackson Heights Food Court to vote on the best momo of the day.

Kar Yee Noodle Shop, 371 Court Street, Second Floor, Brooklyn, Saturday, 5 p.m.

If a day of holiday shopping has left you numb, regain a sense of humanity with some warm Hong Kong soup. Crispy pork, wonton and scallion, and a shiitake mushroom with tofu option are all available to help you warm up after a long day. Wine and beer as well as juice and teas are available for purchase. Tickets are $10 in advance and include a special deal for one choice of soup and two drinks.

John's of 12th Street, Spectacle Theater, 124 South 3rd Street, Brooklyn, Saturday, 10 p.m.

The East Village's transformation from funky artistic enclave to elitist playground forced many businesses to close up shop, but John's of 12th Street is one of the few sill standing. In this documentary of the century-old Italian restaurant -- read Danny King's review for details -- viewers can get a firsthand account of life for a non-trendy but lovable restaurant in changing times. Tickets are $5.

Vendy Plaza, La Marqueta, 1590 Park Avenue, Sunday, noon

The final installment of this outdoor street vendor extravaganza is your last chance to snag a free brew before entering the hell that is holiday weekend shopping. A two-hour complimentary open bar from 3 to 5 p.m. will provide beers from Brooklyn Brewery, while a selection of street food magicians like Vendy's People Choice favorite Nuchas will make sure no one leaves hungry.
