If the gym is just too crowded, you may want to put your resolution off and come back in a month. Here are five events to fill up your time instead.

Mixology: Learn to Create Tea-Infused Cocktails, Sanctuary T, 337B West Broadway, Monday, 6:30 p.m.

January is hot-tea season, but hot water isn't the only way you can put your tea leaves to good use. In this class, led by the teahouse's resident mixologist, students will learn how to make cocktails using fresh ingredients and tea-infused spirits and syrups. Participants will also receive a few recipes to make drinks at home. Reservations are $75 and include five drinks as well as appetizer; guests can secure a spot by contacting the restaurant.

Five Boroughs Food Talk: Brooklyn as a Brand, Symphony Space, 2537 Broadway, Tuesday, 7:30 p.m.

For better or worse, modern-day Brooklyn has become synonymous with pickling, brewing, and bearded shopkeeps who specialize in things like artisanal cheeses. This panel discussion, hosted by food editor Gabriella Gershenson, will explore the Brooklyn brand in detail with featured guests like Smorgasburg founder Eric Demby, former Brooklyn borough president Marty Markowitz, and Butter & Scotch co-owner Alison Kave. Tickets are $15 and can be secured through the venue's website.

Cartoon Happy Hour, Videology, 308 Bedford Avenue, Brooklyn, Wednesday, 4 p.m.

Videology offers a safe haven for comic-book nerds at this happy hour, with drink specials and food provided by El Gato Nacho. The event will also feature comics from Bushwick's Vinyl Fantasy as well as plenty of animated TV shows featuring your favorite superheroes.

Danielle Walker Book Signing, Barnes & Noble, 2289 Broadway, Thursday, 7 p.m.

If you'd like a little help with your January health kick, seek out author Danielle Walker. The bestselling blogger will be visiting NYC this week to share recipes for gluten-free, dairy-free, and paleo-friendly dishes. Guests are welcome to bring copies of both Against the Grain and Meals Made Simple, though the store will have plenty on hand for purchase.

New Year, New Pantry: A Food Swap Soirée, Foodstand, 115 Fifth Avenue, sixth floor, Friday, 6:30 p.m.

Eager to clear out the pantry for 2015? This food exchange invites guests to trade homemade goods and mingle with fellow swappers. Guests can swap anything from beer to cured meats, and can bring anywhere from ten to forty items to the swap showcase. Tickets are $10.
