Newly installed executive chef Yamamoto Takashi, the former private chef for the Japanese consulate, is kicking off his residency at Sushi Zen by offering a selection of traditional multi-course lunch ($45) and dinner ($110) seatings, which will only be available for two weeks. Though the sushi bar will be closed for the first time in the restaurant's history, new additions guests can choose from include sake pairings, Wagyu beef, and fluke with caviar.

Guns N' Rosés, Bottlerocket, 5 West 19 Street, Thursday, 5 to 8 p.m.

Switch up your post-work happy hour routine with free wine and conversation with Bottlerocket's wine connoisseurs, who are offering a clinic on really good rosé this week. In addition to complimentary tastings, the event features a DJ who will be spinning some classic Guns N' Roses to commemorate Slash and Axl's recently renewed friendship.

Fred Minnick: Bourbon Curious, Greenlight Bookstore, 686 Fulton Street, Brooklyn, Thursday, 7:30 p.m.

The history of bourbon runs much deeper than the words on a label. Thankfully, whiskey writer Fred Minnick is hosting a free discussion to help aid history buffs and bartenders alike on the origins of Maker's Mark, Four Roses, and other iconic booze brands. The event includes a guided tasting, with copies of Minnick's book available for signing and purchase.
