Tomorrow: Our 10 Best NYC Restaurants of the Last 225 Years
Founded in 1906, Barbetta was the first restaurant in the city to serve Northern Italian cuisine, and was considered one of the greatest restaurants of its age. Though it has now fallen into obscurity, will it still make our 10 best list?
It's easy enough to make a comparison between contemporary restaurants, because you can actually taste the food of each and make accurate judgments. But what if you had to compare establishments representing several eras? That's just what Fork in the Road has done, using period descriptions, critical accounts, antique menus, and old photographs and engravings to put, say, Fraunces Tavern as George Washington said farewell to his troops up against the Spice Market today to see which is better.
A crazy pursuit? You bet! So please join us bright and early tomorrow morning as we present Our 10 Best NYC Restaurants of the Last 225 years.
