Under the Toque--Ryan Skeen Bids Irving Mill a Porky Goodbye
Ryan Skeen is, in fact, leaving Irving Mill, as was rumored on The Feedbag. The Feed confirms that his last day of service is June 7. But Skeen isn't going quietly. He's enlisted the help of other pork-loving chefs--Porchetta's Sara Jenkins, Annisa's Anita Lo, and The General Greene's Nick Morgenstern--for a pork fest of a meal to be held at the restaurant June 2. John Tesar wasn't too happy to have his dirty laundry aired on Eater, which reported that he chef at David Burke's Fishtail was fired (and suggested that some harsh words from Frank Bruni may have had something to do with it.
But there's more intrigue! In the wild world of internet commenting, you never know who is actually behind the keyboard. A commenter impersonating Tesar on Eater wrote: "Fuck y'all at eater," adding, "Frank Bruni had nothing to do with it and I wasn't fired... david Burke is washed up and I took the job knowing David treats his chefs like crap... I told David he's not professional and I refuse to taint my resume with his crappy outfit and he ... yelled about now having to find a new chef and then told me to just get the 'fuck out'!!! that's the facts assholes at eater." Tesar strongly maintains that the comment was not made by him. He is going to Texas to open Tesar's Modern Steak & Sustainable Seafood. [Eater]
