Vendys Announce New Category: Rookie Vendor of the Year
There will be a new category at this year's Vendy Awards, the fifth annual edition of the event. In addition to the coveted Vendy title, and the popular dessert category introduced last year, food vendors who are new to the street will be able to vie for the Rookie Vendor of the Year award. To qualify, vendors must have launched since last summer. The finalists for the new category have been nominated by food blogs (among them, Fork in the Road), and the winner will be chosen by audience vote.
The nominees for Rookie Vendor of the Year are: Schnitzel & Things, NYC Cravings, Picnick Smoked, and the Big Gay Ice Cream Truck, which is also up for the dessert category, making it the first ever vendor to be nominated in two categories. The other finalists were announced last month.
