What to Drink at Elsewhere: The Bitter Orange Fizz
Each week in The Daily Shot, we have ourselves a drink that we think you should try, too.
The drink: Bitter Orange Fizz
The bar: Elsewhere (403 West 43rd Street, 212-315-2121
The price: $12
The ingredients: Luxardo Bitter, Combier, lemon juice, and one egg white, shaken hard till frothy.
The buzz: Bitter seems to be the order of the day. Yet again. Why we enjoy having our mouths pucker and tongues chafe is not obvious, but sometimes sweet just won't do. And in those moments, reach for this bright-orange-bottomed and white-topped sipper. It's like a Creamsicle they forgot to add the cream (and more than a pinch of sugar) to. Dry and biting, yet pleasantly orangey, it's best imbibed via straw, lest you wish to wear the evidence of it in a foamy 'stache on your upper lip.
