What to Drink at Kin Shop: The Dark 'n' Cloudy
Each week in The Daily Shot, we have ourselves a drink that we think you should try, too.
Rum and coconut.
The drink: Dark 'n' Cloudy
The bar: Kin Shop, 469 Sixth Avenue, Greenwich Village, 212-675-4295
The price: $12
The ingredients: Kraken dark rum with a side of coconut milk, to mix to taste.
The buzz: There are plenty of wonderfully crisp and aromatic white wines on the menu to pair with the inventive and at times fiery food served at Kin Shop. But after your meal, if you're craving a brandy, they have none. So, to finish your dinner in a civilized manner (i.e., with booze), opt for a rum on the rocks served with a side of coconut milk that you mix in yourself, as liberally as you please. The result is much like nutty, tropical iced coffee. But instead of perking you up, this creamy concoction puts you in a dreamy lethargy, duly putting out the fires of the hottest dish and the cares of the day.
