What to Drink at Le Comptoir: The Comic Strip
Each week in The Daily Shot, we have ourselves a drink that we think you should try, too.
The drink: Comic Strip
The bar: Le Comptoir (251 Grand Street, Williamsburg, 718-486-3300)
The price: $11
Ingredients: G'Vine gin, June liqueur, lime juice, agave nectar, cucumber, and parsley, served up
The buzz: Parsley in a cocktail? It's no joke. It's a Comic Strip. The other ingredients are a little funny, too -- gin distilled from grapes, a liqueur derived from vine flowers. Tee-hee. You might expect it to be sharp or maybe even a little biting. But the humor here is totally innocent. The drink errs on the sweet side, but is also quite refreshing thanks to a cucumber infusion and not a little aromatic due to the liqueur and parsley. Those with more of a taste for the bitter might find it a bit sugary. But not everyone is such a sourpuss. (OK, so maybe we are.) For those who like a touch of sweet in the glass, it's sure to bring a smile.
