What's Actually Sprinkled on Luke's Lobster Rolls?
The mysterious seasoning, solved
Our Early Word review of Luke's Lobster stated that the rolls seemed to be topped with a sprinkle of Old Bay, prompting a mini-debate in the comments. One commenter thought that the seasoning was simply oregano, while another thought it was celery salt and thyme. Another agreed that it tasted like Old Bay.
Some highly skilled detective work (a call to the restaurant) cracked the code--it's a blend of celery salt, thyme, oregano and black pepper. Fork in the Road readers are blessed with talented palates! It was the celery salt and black pepper that led us toward Old Bay, which also features those seasonings. Mea culpa, and so forth.
