At the second installment of this series of meet-and-greets, Prosecco maker Canella will pour out free samples of sparkling wine. Winemaker Nicoletta Canella, who runs the vineyard with her family, will also speak about several pairing options for each Prosecco; apply your new knowledge by ordering dinner after the event.
Zakary Pelaccio and Michael Davis: Food and Architecture, 92nd Street Y, 1395 Lexington Avenue, Wednesday, noon
How do you turn a 19th century blacksmith's workshop into a dining destination? Find out from former Fatty Crab chef Zakary Pelaccio and architect Michael Davis, who will discuss how they drew inspiration from the environment at Pelaccio's Hudson, New York, restaurant Fish & Game. Tickets are $21 and can be purchased through the 92nd Street Y's website.
Party Foods, Home Cooking New York, 40 Perry Street, Wednesday, 7 p.m.
If you're tasked with throwing the Super Bowl party this year -- or just happen to have the biggest TV -- learn how to offer more than tostitos and store bought salsa at this hands on cooking class. Students will learn how to pull off pork sliders, roasted artichoke dip, and soft tacos (among other things) in order to become the ultimate host. Class reservations are $100 per person and can be made through the studio's website.
Founders Beer Dinner, Bohemian Hall & Beer Garden, 2919 24th Avenue, Queens, Friday, 7 p.m.
If you have yet to visit this historic Astoria beer garden (the oldest in NYC, by the way), this is an excellent opportunity. Founders Brewery will offer four hard-to-find specialty brews -- including the Backwoods Bastard and Doom -- and a dish from the venue will accompany each beverage.
