As you may know, our weekly dining and drinking newsletter features all the coolest epicurean events in the city. Sign up for it here!

The Secret Lives of (NYC) Bees The Elixir Bar at ABC Kitchen Tuesday, July 20, 5 p.m. Jean-Georges Vongerichten's newest darling of the culinary world, with its sustainable-market-fare theme, is hosting a series of Farm to Table talks, complete with tastings. This Tuesday, the discussion will be on how the city's honeybee population is growing thanks to local beekeepers, who will be on hand to answer questions and offer samples of their liquid gold. Future talks include an introduction to new farming projects, and the secret to heirloom vegetables.

Tasting Tour of South American Wines Zengo Wednesday, July 21, 7 p.m. Take a tasting tour of Chilean white wines with New York Wine Examiner Lisa Carley at Richard Sandoval's Latin-fusion emporium. A $75 five-course tasting menu will be paired with a series of wines from Chile, including the 1865 Single-Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc 2009 and Castillo de Molina Pinot Noir 2007. Muy bien.

Cooking From the Greenmarket: Local Mushrooms Astor Center Saturday, July 24, 11 a.m. Let culinary educator Emily Peterson guide you through the magical world of mushrooms (note: not the world of magic mushrooms). The class starts at the Union Square Greenmarket for a primer on regional mushroom varieties from the farmers themselves, as well as information on how best to select, care for, and store these edible fungi. The second part of the class, held at Astor, will involve preparing a menu of mushroom dishes. The whole day will set you back $125, including wine pairings.
