What's Happening This Week: David Burke at Bloomingdale's Beer Dinner; Bastille Day

As many of you know, our weekly dining and drinking newsletter features all the coolest epicurean events in the city. Sign up for it here!

Sam Adams Dinner David Burke at Bloomingdale's Tuesday, July 13, 7 p.m. Wine-pairing dinners are great, but sometimes all you want is a nice, cold beer. Enjoy a four-course beer-pairing dinner for $50 per person, featuring cool summer dishes and refreshing brews. The menu includes crispy oysters on the half shell, barbecued shrimp with bacon, and roasted pig chop, each paired with an accompanying Sam Adams beer, from the crisp Summer Ale to the hoppy Latitude 48 IPA.

Tuesday Tequila Tastings La Biblioteca at Zengo Tuesdays, 7-8 p.m. The tequila library houses more than 400 bottles of agave-based spirits and, each week, hosts a brand ambassador from one of Mexico's craft haciendas. For $15, you get a flight and a brief tasting seminar, as well as discounts on bottles throughout the evening. Tomorrow, Luna Sueño's small-batch, estate-grown tequilas will be featured. Next week, it's Casa Noble, an organic producer that employs a natural fermentation process.

Bastille Day Bar Tabac & Robin des Bois Sunday, July 18, 11 a.m.-10 p.m. Brooklynites will get their French on this Sunday as Smith Street celebrates Bastille Day (even though the official day is the 14th). Bar Tabac and nearby Robin des Bois play host to the annual party, which features truckloads of sand dumped onto the street for a pétanque tournament and refreshments of merguez sandwiches, pastis cocktails, and Lillet passed around. You don't have to be French to vive la France this weekend.
