The Joy of Cheese Presents Cheese & Beer Rules!! Culturefix Tuesday, September 20, 7:30 p.m. Forget wine and cheese. The best pairing for curds is, by far, beer. For $25, learn what cheeses pair best with hoppy IPAs or creamy ales. And what beers to match to funky blues or sharp cheddar. There will be plenty of bites and brews to sample along the way.

Opaque: Dining in the Dark The Breslin September 22 through 24 The first New York edition of this West Coast culinary event involves a five-course meal and not a single light in the house. The idea is that, by cutting off sight, your other senses (touch, taste, smell, hearing) will be heightened. Tickets start at $149.

Hammer & Claws Blue Crab Feast Chelsea Terminal Warehouse September 24 and 25 Celebrate the best crustaceans the Chesapeake Bay has to offer with all-you-can-eat crab, all-you-can-drink booze, and live music. Organized by Josh Morgan of Choptank. All proceeds go toward Chesapeake Bay Foundation's Save the Bay initiative. Tickets are $118.
